There are many different DIY-tutorials for fixing video problems in HP Pavilion dv, dv, dv series notebooks. It will look something like this: Make sure all cables are properly connected. It just keeps telling me not for this computer.

I have a dv, and need to replace the power button ribbon on the left. I have this model DV and did something stupid. On applying AC power, adapter is giving a sound low level, leakage type. Even though the sound control board volume wheel and audio jacks is a separate unit, I believe the main sound circuit is located on the motherboard and replacing or reconnecting the sound control board will not help.
